UWI honours Oxford University’s first female vice-chancellor The University of the West Indies on June 10 honoured University of Oxford’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Louise Richardson with a doctor of laws degree. The honorary degree was conferred during a special convocation at the Assembly Hall, The UWI, Mona Campus. Richardson is the first female Vice-Chancellor to be appointed in University of Oxford’s near 800 years. Her appointment took effect in January this year. “It is an extraordinary privilege and a great honour to be recognised in this way by such a wonderful institution with which my two previous institutions of Oxford and St Andrews have such close links,” she said.
